ARLINGTON, Texas -- Maybe theres a little Lonnie Baseball to go with Johnny Football in Cleveland. Lonnie Chisenhall left quite an impression in Johnny Manziels home state. Chisenhall had nine RBIs and three home runs in a five-hit game, Michael Brantley scored five times and the Cleveland Indians beat the Texas Rangers 17-7 Monday night. "I know a day like today is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime thing," said Chisenhall, who raised his batting average to .385 but needs more plate appearances to quality for the league lead. "Im enjoying it as much as I can. I dont know the history of it, whos done it in the past." The history is pretty exclusive. Major League Baseball said it was the first time a player went 5 for 5 with three homers and nine RBIs, since the RBI became a statistic in 1920. He also is only the fourth big leaguer to have at least five hits, nine RBIs and three homers in a game -- first since Bostons Fred Lynn in 1975, according to STATS. "He just wasnt missing," Rangers manager Ron Washington said, who team is winless in the past seven series at home. "Breaking balls, fastballs, it didnt matter." The only other nine-RBI game in Cleveland history was by Chris James in a 20-6 victory over Oakland on May 4, 1991. Chisenhall, who had the second multihomer game of his career, finished 10 for 17 with four homers and 13 RBIs in a trip to Texas that ended with Clevelands first road winning streak of the season. Before his third homer, Chisenhall and Jason Kipnis danced in the dugout together during a brief break after home plate umpire Jim Wolf was knocked out of the game when he was hit in the mask by a foul ball. Maybe they knew what was coming. "As hard as it is to beat those dance moves, his swing was prettier," Kipnis said. "Hes attacking the ball right now, and hes swinging at the right pitches and hes learning about himself as a hitter. Right now, hes in one of those zones when he attacks and hes just not missing." The Indians won three straight in the four-game set after coming to the Lone Star State with the worst road record in the majors. Theyre headed to Kansas City to continue the first of three 10-game trips this season. Cleveland hit five homers, won for the ninth time in 10 games and pulled within two games of Detroit just three weeks after trailing by 10 1/2.Chisenhall had two-run homers in the second and fourth innings before hitting a three-run shot down the right field line in the eighth to give the Indians a 17-6 lead. It was his second homer off Texas reliever Scott Baker, who was trying to give the Rangers a long outing but allowed 11 hits and nine runs in five innings. "I mean, hes fouled off about four pitches were out of the strike zone and then just gets something that he can handle," Cleveland manager Terry Francona said. "He feels good about himself. Again, Im stating the obvious." Chisenhall had the first three-homer game for the Indians since Sept. 17, 2010, by Shin-Soo Choo, who now plays for the Rangers. The left-handed hitter had an RBI single in the first and a run-scoring double in the sixth. The homers and RBIs were career highs for Chisenhall. He had five hits earlier this season at Toronto. Texas right-hander Nick Martinez (1-3) gave up eight runs in two innings in a matchup of rookie starters. Cleveland left-hander T.J. House didnt make it to the fifth inning and missed a chance for his first major league win despite taking a 9-1 lead into the third. Scott Atchison (3-0) pitched 1 2-3 scoreless innings. Brantley tied his career high with his 10th home run for a 10-4 lead in the fourth and reached base all five times. George Kottaras had the other Cleveland homer, his third. Texas Alex Rios, who went 2 for 4 and is the ALs top hitter at .335, had his league-leading eighth triple, driving home Adrian Beltre in the third. Michael Choice hit his third homer in the past five games, giving him six for the season. Jason Kipnis had three singles and four RBIs for the Indians, including a two-run single in a five-run second inning. NOTES: The others with five hits, three homers and 9 RBIs since 1920, according to STATS, were Gil Hodges for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1950 against the Boston Braves and Walker Cooper for Cincinnati against the Chicago Cubs in 1949. ... Chisenhalls outburst was the first with at least three homers and nine RBIs in the majors since the Yankees Alex Rodriguez had three homers and 10 RBIs against the Los Angeles Angels on April 26, 2005. Ferrer was unable to find his rhythm in losing 6-4, 6-2 to Teymuraz Gabashvili in his opening match while Nadal struggled past fellow Spanish player Albert Ramos 7-6 (2), 6-4. Nadal eventually overcame his 103rd-ranked opponent to reach the third round, rebounding from a surprise loss to Ferrer in the Monte Carlo Masters quarterfinals. CALGARY -- Mark Giordano returned from a broken ankle Wednesday night and, just like they had been doing before he got injured, the Calgary Flames got right back to winning. In the captains first game back after missing 18 games, Giordano scored a goal and added an assist in the Flames 4-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. "For me, personally, to get back in, it was a great feeling," said Giordano, who proudly wore the Flames fire hat after the game, emblematic of being the teams choice of player of the game. "I felt pretty good. Your adrenaline gets going pretty quick and I really didnt feel my ankle at all tonight so thats a great sign." Giordanos goal was a big one, extending the Flames lead to 3-1 at 11:46 of the second period. On the power play, Giordanos shot from the blue-line changed direction off the stick of Antoine Vermette and eluded goaltender Thomas Greiss. "Scoring always feels great. Obviously, that one was a bit lucky, going off the stick, but it was a great feeling and I felt after that for the rest of the game, we played pretty solid," said Giordano, who has 11 points in nine games, just four back of his point total in 47 games last year. Giordano sustained the injury Oct. 21 in a win in Los Angeles. At the time, the Flames were 4-2-2. While he was absent, the club struggled going just 5-11-2. "Obviously its a big deal to get your captain back. Hes our leader on and off the ice," said Flames goaltender Karri Ramo. "Hes been around us the whole time hes been hurt and trying to help the team any way he can, so it was really good to see him out there." TJ Brodie, Mikael Backlund and Lee Stempniak also scored for Calgary (10-13-4). The Flames have won consecutive games for the first time since Oct. 9 and 11 and won on home ice for just the second time in their last nine tries (2-5-2). Keith Yandle scored the lone goal for Phoenix (16-8-4), who had won 6-2 in Edmonton on Tuesday night. The Coyotes have split the opening two games of their four-game road trip, which continues Friday night in Vancouver. "Got unlucky with a goal at the end of the first period that probably gave them some momentum and we couldnt get it back," said Phoenix coach Dave Tippett. "We had lots of pucks around the net, lots of opportunities, thats the way it goes sometimes." Trailing 1-0, the Flames got an important goal with eight seconds left in the first period whhen Brodies shot deflected in off Phoenix defenceman David Schlemko for his career-high third goal.dddddddddddd. "That one hit me twice, once in my foot, once in my rear-end and then it goes top shelf," Schlemko said. "Kind of an unlucky way to end the first period." The goal sent Calgary to the dressing room even despite being outshot 11-3. Building off that momentum, the Flames played a much better second period, taking the lead at 5:48 when Backlund scored to end an 18-game scoreless drought. "We came in here, we know we didnt have our best first, they sort of took it to us for the first half. But those late goals, they usually are momentum swings and we did a great job of carrying it over into the second," Giordano said. Up 3-1 heading to the third period, Calgary got insurance at 2:44 in the form of their league-leading sixth short-handed goal. Matt Stajan neatly set up Stempniak on a two-on-one. "I think we dominated that first period so kind of unlucky to come out tied 1-1 but at the same time, you have to come out in the second with a little more jump, we knew they were going to push back and weve got to do a better job there," said Yandle. The benefactor of all the offence was Ramo. Making his second consecutive start after stopping 21-of-22 shots to beat Los Angeles on the weekend, the 27-year-old Finn was excellent again with 29 saves to improve to 4-4-1. "It was a while that I didnt see a game but you just have to take it game by game and dont think about the situation too much and whats going to happen," Ramo said. "You just have to play the game and enjoy it." In the pivotal second period when Calgary bolted into the lead, Ramo had a pair of solid glove saves -- first denying Vermette, and in the final minute robbing Mikael Boedker. With Mike Smith getting the night off, Greiss made his fourth start. He had 14 saves to fall to 3-2-0. Notes: Giordano logged 20:28 in ice time and was credited with three blocked shots... Phoenix fell to 12-2-1 when they score first ... The Flames won by more than one goal for just the second time. They entered the night 1-9-0 in goals decided by two or more goals ... Calgary was coming off its fifth break of three or more days. Excluding the Olympic break, they have just two more breaks of that length the rest of the season ... Phoenixs Radim Vrbata saw his five-game points streak come to an end." New York Rangers defenceman Marc Staal is out indefinitely with a concussion, coach Alain Vigneault confirmed on Tuesday. Staal has a history with concussions and missed 36 games of the 2011-2012 after sustaining a concussion late in the 2010-2011 season. Vigneault did however, add that this injury is not considered as severe as Staals past concussion and said the team will take it "day-by-day." Staal suffered the concussion in the third period of the Rangers overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday when he took a hit to the jaw by Devils forward Reid Boucher. Staals concussion is the latest in a string of injuries that have forced him to miss time in his NHL career. The 26-year-old missed more than half of the NHLs 2013 shortened season with an eye injury he sustained after taking a puck to the face. Nelson Cruz Jersey . Stevenson scored the first three goals of the game in the first period for Regina (35-22-6), which has won eight of its last 10 games. Patrick DAmico added two for the Pats, Braden Christoffer had a single and Morgan Klimchuk chipped in a goal and four assists. Robinson Cano Jersey . Sopoaga hit the upright with his first shot at goal from 15 metres. He then kicked nine goals in succession -- two conversions and seven penalties -- before being replaced in the 62nd minute, three points short of the Highlanders record for most points in a match. http://www.baseballmarinersofficial.com ... rsey-c-15/. Messi, winner of the last four Ballon dOr awards in voting by coaches, team captains and media, was injured late in the season and could not prevent Barcelona from being beaten by Bayern in the Champions League semifinals. Ryon Healy Mariners Jersey . Hollis-Jefferson went 5-for-6 from the field and added six rebounds, while Stanley Jefferson contributed 14 points for the Wildcats, who used their trademark tough defense to dominate the games final 24 minutes and advance to Tuesdays winners bracket matchup with Kansas State. Edgar Martinez Jersey .Y. - Phil Varone was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Rochester Americans edged the Toronto Marlies 3-2 on Sunday in American Hockey League action.SOCHI - What she remembers most is what it felt like to stand on the blue-line, proudly watch the Canadian flag rise for the first time and hear OCanada belted out passionately amongst a sea of Americans. "Just that feeling of complete satisfaction," said Jayna Hefford. "Feeling like everything we went through paid off." It was 2002 in Salt Lake City and the first of three consecutive Olympic gold medals for the national womens hockey program with Hefford, a native of Kingston, Ontario, scoring the game-winning goal in triumph over Team USA. The bid for a fourth straight gold begins Saturday at Shayba Arena with a preliminary round matchup against Switzerland. "Its a memory and a feeling Ill never forget," said Hefford of winning gold for the first time, one of three on the roster to do so in 2002, 2006, and 2010. "It was a special time so Im hoping we can recreate it here [in Sochi]." Getting to that point is certain to include yet another round of hostilities with an American team bent on ending Canadas run of dominance at this event. Though theyve captured four of the past five World Championships, beating the Canadians each time, the US squad has fallen in two of the past three gold medal games, yet to triumph at the Olympics since 1998. "Obviously we haave a great rivalry with them," said Hefford, "but theres a lot of games before then and if we dont take care of ourselves here we could face them either earlier than we want in a medal round or not get to a medal round so its really day-by-day and I think thats the best way to look at it.dddddddddddd" These will be the fifth Olympics for Hefford, but she says the experience remains as fresh and exciting as it was 16 years ago when womens hockey was first introduced to the Olympic stage in Nagano - she and the Canadians were edged by the Americans in the gold medal game. "You still have that youthful energy and that excitement," she said. "Its so exciting to be here. You try to take lessons that you learned along the way and bring them into this one, but it still feels like the first one." And thats just one of the lessons shell try to impart on a group of teammates itching for their first taste of gold - enjoy the moment. "It goes by so quickly and you wait so long to get here so really just take in every day and enjoy that," said Hefford, also advising patience with the teams plan of attack. "Theres tough days and theres going to be challenges in these next two weeks, but believe that in the end we can be where we want to be." LONDON - Arsenal threw away a 3-0 lead and an early place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday after Anderlecht launched a stunning comeback to draw 3-3 with a last-minute equalizer. With only half an hour left, goals by captain Mikel Arteta from the penalty spot, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had put Arsenal in complete control of the Group D match. With Borussia Dortmund beating Galatasaray, Arsene Wengers side appeared certain to join the Bundesliga club in the knockout stages with two games to spare.Instead, two goals from Anthony Vanden Borre, the second from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute, hauled Anderlecht right back into the match as Arsenals defence collapsed.Aleksandar Mitrovic then completed the comeback by heading in the equalizer in the 90th minute, before celebrating in front of the euphoric visiting fans.It was a stark reversal from the game in Anderlecht last month, when Arsenal scored two late goals to snatch a 2-1 win.Wenger blamed bad luck, tiredness and, most of all, bad defending for the collapse. You have to give them (Anderlecht) credit, they did fight until the end and we had a poor defensive performance from the first minute to the last today, Wenger said. We never felt comfortable and somewhere we got punished. A bit because of bad luck, the first (Anderlecht) goal was offside clearly, but defensively our performance was not good enough.Arteta, who was substituted due to a hamstring injury, was equally critical of the performance. We cant afford to make these mistakes, it is just not good enough, Arteta said. It was a massive night for us to ensure our qualification to the last 16. We threw everything away tonight and did not perform to the expected level of this football club. Luckily we have two more opportunities to amend this.Dortmunds 4-1 win over Galatsaray sealed its place in the knockout stages with second-place Arsenal on seven points, Anderlecht with two and the Turkish side on one.Anderlecht coach Besnik Hasi felt the turning point came with his sides first goal.We made a few changes and at 3-1 we gained in confidence, he said. I also have to thank our fans tonight — even at 3-0 down they gave us confidence, and then we started to play. At 3-2, Arsenal started to have a doubt. So we really pushed forward and we scored the goal. This game is going to stay in my memory for sure. ... Im very, very proud of my team. They were fantastic today. Two weeks after Arsenal was fortunate to snatch a late victory in Belgium, Tuesdays performance at Emirates Stadium looked highly convincing — at least for the first hour. The first goal came after Anderlecht centre half Chancel Mbemba felled Danny Welbeck with a clumsy challenge in the area in the 25th minute.Arteta coolly chipped his spot-kick down the middle as keeper Silvio Proto dived helplessly to his right, and the home side had taken a step toward the last 16.Another step followed just four minutes later, after Sanchez took a free kick that struck the Anderlecht wall. The ball looped high in the air and back to the Chile striker, who smashed home a volley that Proto got a glove to but couldnt keep out. It was Sanchezs fifth goal in his last three matches.Arsenal kept up the pressure after the re-start and was rewarded when Sanchez won back possession outside the Anderlecht area, releasing Oxlade-Chamberlain for a penetrating run and a curling shot past Proto into the far corner. However, defensive frailties have marked Wengers side this season and they again proved costly.Substitute Davy Roef broke down the right flank in the 61st minute and sent in a low cross that Vanden Borre turned in from point-blank range — with Arsenal appeals for offside waved away by the referee.Vanden Borre then narrowed the deficit even further from the penalty spot, giving Szczesny no chance after Nacho Monreal had pulled down Mitrovic in the area.At this stage, the home side was barely clinging on to a victory and a place in the knockout stages. That already loose grip was broken completely when Mitrovic brilliantly headed home Andy Najars cross into the corner of the Arsenal net in the last minute.Maybe we underestimated subconsciously Anderlecht and got punished, Wenger summed up. Thats the Champions League. You need to be at the mental level ... and certainly we were not. Paul Kariya Jersey . Griffin scored 13 of his 31 points in the final 7:05 and Dudley got 11 of his 20 points in the third quarter, leading the defending Pacific Division champions to a 112-85 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night. The English Football Association had charged the German right back with violent conduct after retrospectively reviewing video evidence of an incident that was missed by match officials at Craven Cottage on Saturday.ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays had a difficult decision to make: What was more encouraging, Canadian Erik Bedards performance or the offences breakout night? Bedard, from Ottawa, gave up one hit in seven scoreless innings and the Rays had 10 hits in a 7-1 victory Saturday over the Cleveland Indians that broke a four-game skid. Winning his second straight start after 15 without a win, Bedard gave up a double to Ryan Raburn in the second inning, Clevelands only hit until Lonnie Chisenhall led off the ninth with a single off Grant Balfour. Just as refreshing for the Rays, who had lost six straight home games, was the offensive output led by James Loney, who had three hits and drove in two runs. The Rays had only 10 runs while losing the four preceding games on their homestand. "Tonight we came out ready to swing and it led to good things," said Matt Joyce, who drove in two runs with sacrifice flies. "We have some great players here. Obviously, this year hasnt gone the way we wanted so far and it was a rough week for us, but weve still got a little ways to go." Bedard (2-1) is the only Rays starter to go six innings over the teams last seven games. Manager Joe Maddon "was tinkering with the idea" of sending him for a seventh before calling for Juan Carlos Oviedo, who followed with two perfect innings. "I had probably 10 pitches left," said Bedard, who has allowed one run or less in three straight starts for the first time since 2008. "Im always a slow starter so the first couple were rough, but after that you just get in the groove oof things and throw strikes.dddddddddddd" Bedard got nine of his outs on flyballs. "He just really mixed and matched angles, speeds, everything," said Cleveland manager Terry Francona. "(Raburn) hit the line drive double, but other than that, there was a lot of lazy flyballs. Kind of exactly what he wants you to do." Zach McAllister (3-3) gave up eight hits and five runs in 4 1-3 innings for the Indians, who had won four straight. David DeJesus drove in Tampa Bays first run with a two-out single in the third. The Rays made it 3-0 in the fourth when Loneys first hit was followed by Wil Myers double and the first of Joyces sacrifice flies. Yunel Escobar drove in the second run with a two-out single. Ben Zobrist had two hits and scored twice for the Rays, who had lost six straight home games. NOTES: John Axford is out as the Indians closer, Francona announced before the game. A group of four relievers that includes Cody Allen, Scott Atchison, Marc Rzepczynski and Bryan Shaw could all get opportunities to fill the role. ... Rays RHP Alex Cobb, who has been on the DL since April 13 with a left oblique strain, is likely to pitch in a simulated game Monday in Port Charlotte, Florida, then make a rehab start five days later. Cobb hopes to pitch for the Rays by the end of the May. ... Indians CF Michael Bourn, as expected, was rested. He played Thursday and Friday after missing three games with a tight left hamstring. ... Rays RHP Chris Archer (2-1) and Indians RHP Josh Tomlin (1-0) are Sundays scheduled starters. JUPITER, Fla. -- Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia will return to St. Louis on Sunday to have doctors examine his surgically repaired throwing shoulder, making it unlikely hell be ready for the start of the season. Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak made the announcement on Saturday before a short workout. Garcia underwent season-ending surgery last year after experiencing shoulder pain. Garcias throwing sessions at spring training had been going well until his last outing, when the pain returned. "He just hadnt quite felt right for the last 48 hours," Mozeliak said. "From a medical standpoint, no one thought it was that serious. But it wasnt improving and given how early it is in camp, theres no reason to try to work through something if it might be something larger. We think it is better to get some resolution and have him seen back in St. Louis." The 27-year-old Garcia had been the favourite to become the fifth starter, and lone lefthander, in the rotation. He was 5-2 with a 3.58 ERA last season and won a career-high 13 games in 2010 and 2011. Mozeliak didnt want to speculate on the severity of Garcias injury, but said its "probably unlikely" hell be ready for opening day. He added that some soreness following shoulder surgery is not uncommon. "Any time a pitcher that has thrown as much as he has experiences shoulder pain, goes in and gets a cleanup, its not too hard to imagine that there could be still an uphill battle," Mozeliak said. Garcia had been scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday, but the soreness cancelled those plans. Mozeliak said he expects to know more about Garcias status on Monday. Without Garcia, Carlos Martinez and Joe Kelly, both righthanders, become the likely pitchers to fill the void. The Cardinals could turn to Tyler Lyons should they desire a lefthanded starter. "I dont think its any secret to anybody that having that solid lefthander seems to add a different component to an offence that might be locked in against some righties," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees made their first major move on this offseasons free agent market, signing coveted reliever Andrew Miller to a four-year contract. The YES Network reported the deal to be worth $36 million for the left-hander, who is coming off a dominant 2014 season with the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles. Miller posted a 2.02 earned run average and racked up a career-best 103 strikeouts in 62 1/3 innings last season. He also proved to be more than simply a lefty specialist, limiting right-handed hitters to a .145 average and southpaws to a .163 clip over 73 regular-season appearances. The 29-year-olds addition likely reduces New Yorks chances of bringing back closer David Robertson, also a free agent. Miller could form a potentially devastating one-two punch with hard-throwing righty Dellin Betances at the back end of the Yankee bullpen, with Betances the favorite to slot into Robertsons ninth-inning role. Miller played in a key role in Bostons march to the 2013 World Series title, producing a 2.64 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings over 37 appearances that season. He was traded to the Orioles on July 31 after the Red Sox fell out of this past years playoff race, posting a 1.35 ERA in 23 regular season games with Baltimore before firing 7 1/3 shutout innings in the AL playoffs. Originally a starting pitcher, Miller was permanently moved to the bullpen by the Red Sox in 2012. The former first-round pick owns a 2.57 ERA in 163 appearances over the last three seasons, striking out 202 batters in 133 1/3 innings and yielding a .181 average over that span. Miller broke into the majors as a 21-year-old with Detroit in 2006. He was traded to the Marlins as part of the deal that sent two-time AL MVP Miguel Cabrera to the Tigers prior to the 2008 season, then was acquired by Boston from Florida after the 2010 campaign. Over 259 career games, 66 of which have been starts, Miller has compiled a 30-38 record with a 4.91 ERA. Fleetwood also birdied the 18th to finish his round with a 70 and set up a three-way playoff with Scotlands Stephen Gallacher (67) and Argentinas Ricardo Gonzalez (70) after all three finished at 18-under 270 on the PGA Centenary course. Playing the par-5 18th again, Fleetwood narrowly missed an eagle putt from the fringe and then rolled in a three-footer for the win. Gallacher and Gonzalez both made par. Gallacher overcame a triple-bogey 7 on the 11th hole with a round that included five birdies and two eagles -- including one on the 18th to make the playoff. "Its just unbelievable as its been a lifetime goal to win on the European Tour," Fleetwood said. "Im sure there will be bigger and better goals in my career butt this feels absolutely amazing right now.dddddddddddd" Fleetwood went into the final round of his 50th Tour event sharing the lead on 16-under with Gonzalez but slipped well off the pace to be 1 over for his round through 15 holes. However, he then eagled the 16th and birdied the last. Fleetwood was watched by his parents and ailing 14-year old dog, Maisy. "She was diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks ago," Fleetwood said. "So given her condition, this week is pretty special." Gallacher made a triple bogey at the 11th hole but then made up four shots in his closing five holes, including grabbing an eagle at the last. The 43-year old Gonzalo was looking to end a four-year winless drought. Scotlands Scott Henry chipped in for eagle at the last in a score of 67 to finish tied fourth on 17-under with Austrian Bernd Wiesberger who shot a 68. Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Klay Thompson scored 27 points with five assists to help the Golden State Warriors in a 126-113 win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. Stephen Curry supplied 22 points with 10 assists and Draymond Green notched 18 points in the win. Golden State, which captured a four-game season sweep of the Rockets for the first time since 1973-74, set a franchise record with its 17th straight home victory. Our goal going into the season was to protect home court, Curry said. It means a lot to be consistent every night. The Warriors won 16 in a row at home over two seasons in 1950 and 1959 when the franchise was in Philadelphia. James Harden went for a game-high 33 points in the loss, while Corey Brewer and Jason Terry posted 20 and 14 points off the bench, respectively. They bullied us tonight, said Harden. Harrison Barnes 3-pointer with over five minutes to go in the first quarter gave the Warriors a 26-16 lead. Houston ended the final 3:20 of the quarter on an 11-2 to cut its deficit to 32-29. Josh Smith knocked down a 3-pointer to tie the game early in the second, but the Rockets scored just six points over the final nine-plus minutes of the half and Golden State took advantage. From that point, the Warriors opened up a large halftime lead courtesy of a 26-6 run. Thompson scored the final six points of the quarter to help the hosts to a 62-42 lead at the break. Greens 3 with 5 1/2 minutes to play in the third stretched the lead to a game-high 30 before the Rockets ended up trimming the deficit to as little as nine late in the fourth. Game Notes Smith was ejected after receiving a double-technical late in the third quarter ... Andrew Bogut scored nine points with 10 rebounds and tied a season high with five blocks ... Golden State made half of its shots, while limiting the Rockets to 42 percent shooting ... Dwight Howard pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds in the loss. Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Fiorentina levelled on aggregate in the 14th minute when Joaquin Sanchez Rodriguez headed back a long ball from David Pizarro and Pasqual smashed home an angled volley.(SportsNetwork.com) - A pair of teams with division titles on the brain square off Sunday at the Georgia Dome, where the Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the hosting Atlanta Falcons. The Steelers are 8-5 this season, right behind the 8-4-1 Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North standings. The Steelers have won two of three games and improved to 5-2 in the past seven games with Sundays 42-21 win over the Bengals. LeVeon Bell ran for 185 yards and two scores on 26 carries and has recorded 95 yards or more in each of the past three games, averaging 161.3 ypg in that time. Bell is second in the NFL with 1,231 rushing yards and third with 94.7 yards per game. Bell totaled 235 yards from scrimmage to join Walter Payton (1977) as only the second player in NFL history to tally 200 yards from scrimmage in three consecutive games. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions to keep Pittsburgh alive in the division title hunt. Antonio Brown (117 yards) and Martavis Bryant (109 yards) both eclipsed the 100-yard mark against Cincinnati, and helped the Steelers amass 543 yards. The Steelers have scored 30 or more points in seven games in 2014, tying a franchise record for the most such games in a season. We just know that it is one game at a time, said Roethlisberger. We (know) every week is kind of a playoff week for us. Were going to give it everything we have every week. Pittsburgh will close the regular season with two games at home versus Kansas City and a rematch with Cincinnati. The Falcons are even with New Orleans atop the mediocre NFC South standings with similar 5-8 records. The Falcons had won three of four games until Monday nights 43-37 loss in Green Bay. Atlanta rallied for 20 fourth-quarter points in the unfriendly confines of Lambeau Field and Matt Ryan completed 24-of-39 passes for 375 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones blew up for a team-record 259 yards and a TD on 11 receptions. They just leaned on me today and I just tried to make most of the plays, Jones said. Everything they threw on me, I tried my best to get them. Jones leads all receivers in the NFL with 1,428 yards. The 259-yard outburst was the best performance by any receiver in the NFL this season, besting Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins, who posted 238 yards in a game against the Tennessee Titans earlier this season. He did suffer a hip injury in the fourth quarter, but is expected to be alright Sunday versus the Steelers. Julio has a hip injury, and (safety) William Moore has a foot injury. Were hoping that these guys will be ready to go at the end of the week, Falcons head coach Mike Smith said. How much practice time theyre going to get? We dont know that at this point in time, but it is our intention to do everything in our power to have these guys ready to go against Pittsburgh. Falcons wide receiver Roddy White needs one more touchdown to pass Michael Turner (61) for the franchise lead. The Steelers lead the series witth the Falcons, 12-2-1, and are 6-2 in the Peach State.dddddddddddd Pittsburgh won the last meeting, 15-9, in overtime back on Sept. 12, 2010 in the season opener for both teams. Roethlisberger did not play in that one because of a suspension. Ryan passed for 252 yards with no TDs and one INT. That game took place in the Steel City and Ryan is back home, where owns a 39-12 record with 84 touchdown passes and 32 interceptions with a 98.0 QB rating. Ryan has thrown at least one touchdown in 18 straight games dating back to 2013. WHAT TO WATCH FOR The Falcons have New Orleans and Carolina on the docket to close out the regular season, and face a tough challenge with Pittsburgh in town. Atlanta will have to slow down Bell and the Steelers ground attack to have a chance, and struggled with Green Bays Monday night. The Packers netted 179 yards on the ground and running backs James Starks and Eddie Lacy ended with 75 and 73 yards, respectively. Both backs had a rushing touchdown. Bell poses as a huge threat this week and Smith knows it. Well, hes going to have a challenge very similar to what we had in the game yesterday. If it wasnt there down the field they were going to check the ball down, Smith said Tuesday. Their backs were very active in the passing game yesterday, and the running back that were getting to face this week has had 200 yards of total offense the last couple of weeks. Hes not just doing it carrying the ball; hes doing it catching the ball as well. Its going to be a challenge for us. Smith also gave credit to Roethlisberger and his ability to shed off would-be tacklers in the pocket. If Aaron Rodgers was annoying enough by making time in the pocket, Big Ben will be just as irritating. Rodgers passed for 327 yards and three scores, and hooked up with Jordy Nelson eight times for 146 yards and a pair of touchdown connections. Enter Brown. Brown is first in the NFL with 105 receptions, second with 1,375 yards and third with 11 TDs. Brown and Bryant can give opposing defensive backfields nightmares with their speed and ability to gain yards after the catch. The Steelers have won two in a row on the road and Sundays game in Atlanta wont be an easy one. I really think the significant element of the storyline is we are faced with another road game against a division leader and its a significant game for both teams, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said. Both teams will prepare with that in mind and play with an edge with that in mind. We have a great deal of respect for these guys. OVERALL ANALYSIS The cream usually rises to the top and no team deserves to be in the playoffs with a record below .500. Well, the Falcons can be that team if the remainder of the season goes their way. However, the Steelers will make it difficult for the Falcons to achieve their goal with a high-scoring win at the Georgia Dome. Look for another all-purpose performance from Bell and some more receptions for Brown. Pakistan will aim to consign their comprehensive second Test defeat to the bin when they take on England in the third Test at Edgbaston, from Wednesday. Ahead of the clash, live on Sky Sports 2 from 10am, Saj Sadiq caught up with Sarfraz Ahmed to get his thoughts on how the tourists hope to hit back, why Younis Khan remains an inspiration, the teams strategy against Moeen Ali plus more…What do you feel were the main reasons for the heavy defeat in the second Test at Old Trafford?Sarfraz: To start with, we must give credit to England for playing some excellent cricket which resulted in that victory for them. We also made some mistakes in the game which we need to rectify in the coming days before the next Test match at Edgbaston. We intend to study those mistakes during our practice sessions and then not make them again. Watch how England wrapped up victory over Pakistan inside four days What mistakes do you feel Pakistan made at Old Trafford?Sarfraz: Although the pitch had some help for our bowlers, we were unable to bowl in the same manner we did against England at Lords. Also, we have to understand that in English conditions, any team batting first and putting up a reasonable score automatically gets the upper hand in the game. Also, the fact is that we failed to click in both batting and bowling departments. This is unlike how our batting, bowling and even fielding came good at the Lords Test not too long ago. However, as I said, we will work on fixing these problems and make a strong comeback in this series to make it 2-1 in our favour.Do you agree that Pakistans current Test team structure seems to be geared towards batting first?Sarfraz: This is not the case in my view. Our Test team has been performing very well for the past four or five years and that is also reflected in our current high ranking. We have won games in the past with our batting and bowling with a similar combination. Not only has our batting succeeded in the past but our bowling has defended totals very well in the past as well. Who is the press-up king? Misbah-ul-Haq, a few golf marshalls or David Lloyd? It seemed like the Pakistan teams morale looked a little low during the second Test compared to how they looked during the Lords Test?Sarfraz: When things are going well for you as a team then the morale is naturally high. But when the opposition puts on close to six hundred runs then any team will feel a little low. To be honest, the team was still trying its best even in the face of such a high first-innings total but unfortunately things did not go our way and really we must give credit to the England team for their performance. How difficult is it for any team to recover from such a comprehensive defeat?Sarfraz: It is always tough to make a comeback after a defeat of the kind we suffered recently. What I will say is that we have put in a lot of hard work and preparation for this tour with a boot camp as well as a training camp in Lahore. I am confident that after a short break between the Test matches, we have the ability and will make a comeback in this series, God Willing. Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq praised the performances of Cook and Root What sort of changes do you feel can Pakistan make to their strategy for the third Test?Sarfraz: We will consider all options once we get close to the third Test and have had a look at the conditions at Edgbaston. As far as minor technical changes are concerned, these are always possible during series as we deem fit.Of course major technical issues cannot be resolved during the ongoing series. Like I said, we will consider what changes need to be done once we have reached Birmingham and have had a sight of the pitch. How much of a concern is the dip in form for Younis Khan for the Pakistan team?Sarfraz: Younis Khan is one of our main players without doubt. Apart from Younis, we have been winning with the likes of Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq for the past few years and we cannot write off any of these players based upon a few bad innings. Younis Khan holes out off Moeen Alis bowling at Old Trafford Younis Khan not only works hard on his fitness and in the nets, he is also a great source of inspiration and strength for the team. I am convinced that he will make a comeback just like in the past when hes come through for Pakistan with a big innings when his team needed it most. Are you concerned about some of the criticism aired on television by former players who were conspicuously quiet when Pakistan won at Lords?Sarfraz: We have to understand that all of these ex-players have served our country with honour in the past. They are simply pointing out some of our failings and we must not take that to heart as this will not be to our benefit. We have to take such thoughts in a positive manner and not take them negatively. If we consider such advice in a negative light, then that will sit at the back of our minds and hinder our progress. The ex-players are speaking from their experience and it is up to us as players to note their advice and implement those recommendations. Sarfraz drops Jonny Bairstow on day two of the second Test How do you explain the fielding lapses in the Test series so far including some dropped catches by yourself?Sarfraz: There is always pressure on players when they are fielding in an international game but mistakes can be made by anyone. No one mis-fields or drops a catch deliberately. There are some issues such as the slopes in the field which we are not used to or windy conditions that cause deviation in the trajectory of the ball as well. This is another aspect that we are working on and you will see a better fielding display in the upcoming games. Is the display of attacking and aggressive batting against Moeen Ali a deliberate ploy?Sarfraz: Let me start by saying that we generally try and play in a positive manner and to score against balls which need to be put away. Now England are playing with four front-line bowlers and if one of the bowlers bowls a long spell then it is clear that he will not come on to bowl again for a little while. The Verdict panel discuss Moeen Ali’s form In such a situation, when Moeen Ali comes on to bowl, our batsmen will want to make use of this opportunity. Having said that, they arent attacking every delivery but playing each ball on its merit. Moeen Ali is no ordinary bowler as he did claim the wickets of some of our top batsmen at Old Trafford but I will stress that we did not in any way plan to hit every ball from Moeen; our strategy was the same as it was against all other bowlers. How do you rate Joe Root as a batsman?Sarfraz: We are all very impressed by Roots batting in both Test matches so far. He must be appreciated as some of his shots against good balls even put doubts in the minds of our bowlers. He is a batsman with an excellent technique and when he plays those shots, any bowler would feel demoralised. It was his batting in the second Test which made the difference and took the game away from us. Watch Joe Roots double century at Old Trafford How can Pakistan deal with Joe Root and Alastair Cook, as they appear to be the main threats?Sarfraz: This is foremost in our minds. These two are key batsmen for England and we will plan to take their wickets early so as to put pressure on the rest of the batting line-up. Rest assured that our coaching staff will be putting a lot of stress on this objective for the next games. In a recent interview with us, Inzamam-ul-Haq has said that there is no need to panic and that Pakistan can make a comeback. Do you agree with those sentiments?Sarfraz: I absolutely agree with what Inzi Bhai has said. There is no need to panic at all. The series stands at 1-1 and it is as competitive as it gets. The series began with a bang and from what we have seen so far, this is a tough fight. We are a strong side and our coaching staff are committed to helping the team respond well in the next two games. I am certain we will bounce back in the next two Tests.Watch live coverage of the third Test between England and Pakistan live on Sky Sports 2 on Wednesday from 10am. That includes slotback Weston Dressler, offensive lineman Ben Heenan and safety Tyron Brackenridge, all major contributors to the Roughriders 2013 Grey Cup-winning team.Taman is hopeful he can re-sign one of those players before the deadline, possibly two. But Taman doesnt believe hell get all three before then because Heenan, a 24-year-old Regina native, has attracted significant NFL interest and Taman expects the six-foot-four, 310-pound tackle to test free agency. Two would be nice and one would be acceptable, I think, but theres a chance it could be zero, Taman said during a telephone interview Thursday. It all depends on how the whole business side works out in the next two weeks of negotiations. Were not going to get every guy back, we know that. Were just trying to minimize the hits on how many we lose and who it is.According to the CFL website, 30 of the 136 potential free agents have re-signed with their clubs. Nine have been released outright, with Toronto Argonauts cornerback Kalil Carter and Calgary Stampeders defensive lineman Shawn Lemon going on to sign NFL deals with Minnesota and Pittsburgh, respectively. On Thursday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers released linebacker Ian Wild so he could pursue NFL opportunities.Montreal receiver Duron Carter (75 catches, 1,030 yards, seven TDs) and Hamilton all-star cornerback Delvin Breaux are among the remaining 97 pending free agents but both have worked out for multiple NFL clubs and are expected to sign in the U.S. Also garnering interest south of the border is Calgary centre Brett Jones, the leagues top lineman in 2014 whose CFL deal also expires next month.Saskatchewan leads the CFL with its 19 pending free agents. Taman said the Riders and Brackenridges camp have narrowed the gap in their talks but another factor in the process is determining how Brackenridge fits into new defensive co-ordinator Greg Quicks scheme. The six-foot, 189-pound Brackenridge had 64 tackles and three interceptions last season after earning CFL all-star honourrs in 13 .ddddddddddddTaman said the Riders have made the 29-year-old Dressler a contract offer his representatives are currently mulling over. At the end of the day theyll let me know where theyre at but weve thrown it out at them.I think every year we go through this, we have two or three guys that are pretty significant guys who can hit the market. Some weve kept, some we havent and this year is no different. If we lose all three, we just have to move on and figure out how to win games without them. Were hoping we dont get to that point with all three of them but if we do, we do.Another interesting potential free agent is running back Jerome Messam. The 29-year-old Toronto native, who grew up in Brampton, Ont., averaged a solid 5.5 yards per carry last season but only had 70 rushing attempts. The six-foot-three, 245-pound Messam was the CFLs top Canadian in 2011 when he ran for 1,057 yards with Edmonton. He has rushed for 1,115 yards the last three seasons combined with the Eskimos, Montreal and Saskatchewan but has averaged a solid 4.8 yards per carry.Last year, the Riders used multiple running backs as Anthony Allen rushed for a team-high 930 yards. Will Ford (452 yards), Messam and Hugh Charles (86 yards) also saw action in former offensive co-ordinator George Cortezs scheme.Fortunately for Saskatchewan, new offensive co-ordinator Jacques Chapdelaine is familiar with Messam from their days together with the B.C. Lions.Jerome is a talented kid and hes Canadian, Taman said. Hes got a lot of value but some teams might think that to.When he did play significant time I thought he did pretty well but there were reasons why he didnt play in the other games. Thats obviously a coaching thing weve got to sort through.Jacques has some familiarity with him from B.C. so I think theres some comfort there but again its up to me to try and get him back. NEW YORK, N.Y. - Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said early Wednesday that theres no need for supplemental discipline for New York defenceman John Moore in the wake of his punishing hit on Montreal forward Dale Weise in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final. "It doesnt meet the league standard as far as a late hit," Vigneault told reporters at a Wednesday morning availability in Montreal the day after the Habs 7-4 win. "It was a hit that Johnny caught him a little high in the chest, (the) player didnt see it coming. "It probably warrants the penalty that was given on the ice. Other than that, I dont see what else it could warrant, but Ive been surprised before. Well see what happens." Moore was suspended two games later on Wednesday for an illegal check to the head. Moore was given a major penalty and ejected from Tuesday nights game at Montreals Bell Centre when, at 10:41 of the third period, he nailed Weise with a blindside open-ice hit that was almost identical to Montreal forward Brandon Prusts unpenalized hit on Derek Stepan in Game 3. Prust, who had been suspended once before by the league, was subsequently given a two-game ban for the late check, which the NHL deemed as interference. Vigneault said the two cases were different. "Well, the player didnt see him coming, obviously, but the guy (Weise) was admiring his pass a little bit at the same time. Unfortunately, it was a hit and because of the force of the hit, the head seemed to snap back a little bit. But as far as what I know about league standards and from what I heard from the Prust hit where the dynamics of the hit changed because Stepan was hurt, I dont see that at this time right now." Stepans jaw was broken by Prusts hit but the Rangers centre returned to action Tuesday after undergoing surgery, and scored two goals while wearing a chin guard. Weises helmet was knocked off after Tuesday nights hit and he was wobbly when he got up, with teammate P.K. Subban grabbing him in a bear hug for support. He left for treatment but returned to the bench late in the period. Montreal coach Michel Therrien did not take umbrage at Vigneaults assessment of the play. "What Alain is saying its normal. Hes there to protect his players with his comments, and any coach is going to say those types of things. But we all saw the hit. Its in the leagues hands and Im sure theyre going to take the good decision, so thats the way we see it." Moore plays on New Yorks third defensive pairing with Kevin Klein. Tuesdays win staved off elimination for Montreal, narrowing the Rangers lead in the series to three games to two. Game 6 is Thursday at Madison Square Garden. The series has already seen two suspensions — New Yorks Dan Carcillo was banned for 10 games for jostling a linesman in the wake of the Prust hit. Asked if Raphael Diaz would be the replacement for Moore if suspended, Vigneault replied: "Were not there yet. I dont expect anything." Paul Molitor Jersey . Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee? Green had bounced around the NBA when he wasnt playing overseas. The Pacers gave up on Plumlee after just one season. Morneau hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning and helped the Colorado Rockies turn the third triple play in team history as they beat the San Diego Padres 8-6 on Sunday. Ryan Braun Brewers Jersey . "We cannot stay the same way the whole season long," said Reyes. "This is not acceptable. Something needs to change because were a better team than what were showing right now. Its a long season and we just need to continue to push." Its been a frustrating week for the ballclub.ATLANTA - With their season on the verge of slipping away, the Atlanta Hawks arent going for style points, theyre just glad to string together a couple of wins. Kyle Korver scored 12 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter to help Atlanta beat the Milwaukee Bucks 102-97 Thursday night for the Hawks first back-to-back victories in nearly six weeks. The Hawks (28-35) expanded their lead over the surging Knicks (26-40) for the No. 8 and final playoff spot in the East to 3 1/2 games. Their victory over the team with the worst record in the NBA followed Mondays 104-102 victory over Utah, the team with the worst record in the Western Conference. Like the Bucks (13-52), the Hawks entered the game having lost 14 of 16, and their first home game after a six-game road trip had an odd feel. "The last two havent been pretty, but theyre wins and its two in a row so were going to try to build on that," said Korver, who was 4 for 4 from the foul line and 3 for 4 from the field in the final period, including 2 for 3 on 3-pointers. "The first game back after a (long) road trip is notoriously a trap game, and I think we fell for it a bit in the first half and didnt come out with the right energy and focus, at least I didnt." Korvers backcourt mate, Jeff Teague, scored 22 points with eight in a final period that saw 12 lead changes and four ties. The Hawks took the lead for good when Korvers 3-pointer gave them a 90-89 edge with 2:15 left. That came moments after Korver missed from long distance, and reserve centre Elton Brand grabbed the rebound and fired it back to the sharpshooter. That play more than any ruined the Atlanta homecoming of Bucks coach Larry Drew, who was the Hawks head coach from 2010-13. He was not asked to return for the final season of his contract, although Atlanta never officially fired him. "If we come up with that rebound were not in that position," Drew said. "You cant leave a guy like that that open. Or even put him in that position, because Kyle is, if not the best shooter, hes one of the top three in our league." Korvers 3 triggered a 9-0 run that waas punctuated by Teagues thunderous dunk with 27 second remaining for a 96-89 lead.dddddddddddd Ersan Ilyasova had 22 points and 10 rebounds for Milwaukee, and guard Brandon Knight added 20 points. Every Atlanta starter, even centre Pero Antic, made at least one 3-pointer. The Hawks were 13 for 29 from beyond the arc. Milwaukee had just eight turnovers and a modest 43-41 rebounding edge, but went 3 for 19 on 3-point attempts. Trailing 53-47 at halftime, the Hawks took a 68-67 lead by closing the third quarter with a 9-0 run during which they made four straight shots. Milwaukee shot 4 for 21 in the period, and scored one point over the final 4:08 of a 14-point quarter. "Our defence picked us up and allowed us to get back in the game," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said. "We keep talking about being better defensively, and at some point weve got to carry it over to the court." Both teams found energy in the final quarter, when the Hawks outscored the Bucks 34-30. Teague, who pitched in eight assists but also committed seven turnovers, was happy with the win because, he said, "Nobody is bad in the NBA. On any given night, anybody can beat anybody." Budenholzer was more mindful of Atlantas opponent. He did not consider his team to be back on track. "No; not really. I think were going to have to play a whole lot better than this going forward," Budenholzer said. "Wins are important ... but I dont think anybody thinks were settled." NOTES: Hawks centre Al Horford, who has been out since tearing his right pectoral muscle Dec. 26 in an overtime win at Cleveland, said he will not return to play this seven even if Atlanta makes the playoffs. He returned after suffering a similar injury to his left pectoral in 2011-12. "No. I think it would be hard. This injury, honestly, was a little more severe than the other one," he explained in his first meeting with reporters since the injury. "And its my right side, shooting arm, and I need to feel 100 per cent confident with it, so I think its going to be a little bit slower." PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates used three right fielders, including two had never played the outfield in a major league game before, and five relief pitchers. Somehow, all the manoeuvring by manager Clint Hurdle paid off. Pedro Alvarez singled in the go-ahead run and the Pirates won their season-high fourth straight game Saturday night, 4-3 over the St. Louis Cardinals. "We drew a lot of stuff up in the dirt," Hurdle said. "Everybody showed up, though, and did what they were supposed to do and it ended up being a really gritty win for us." The Pirates were short two outfielders as centre fielder Andrew McCutchen missed a game for the first time this season because of soreness in his left foot and right fielder Travis Snider was serving the second game of a two-game suspension from for his part in an April 20 brawl with the Milwaukee Brewers. Starling Marte, normally the left fielder who was starting in centre in place of McCutchen, left the game for pinch-hitter Gaby Sanchez in bottom of the fourth inning because of lower back stiffness. Josh Harrison, who started in right field, moved to left and Sanchez took over in right for his first outfield action of his seven-year career. Hurdle then decided to move shortstop Jordy Mercer to right field in the eighth inning with the Pirates holding on to a 4-3 lead. Backup shortstop Clint Barmes replaced Mercer, who played in the outfield for the first time in his three-year career. Neither Sanchez nor Mercer had a ball hit their way. "We had talked about the possibility (on Friday), so Gaby was prepared," Hurdle said. "Jordys athletic and he has a good arm. "I figured he could catch the ball and maybe throw someone out if he had to." Alvarezs hit capped a four-run fourth inning against Lance Lynn (4-2) that helped the Pirates wipe out a 3-0 deficit. Harrison and Ike Davis each had two hits for the Pirates, who have won 11 of their last 14 games against the Cardinals in Pittsburgh. Harrison also hit an RBI single in the fourth. Jared Hughes (2-1) retired all four batters he faced in relief of starter Edinson Volquez, including getting Matt Adams to ground out with the bases loaded to end the fifth inning and preserve a one-run lead. Mark Melancon earned his fourth save with a scoreless ninth, striking out Allen Craig with runners on first and second for the final out. Hughes and Melancon combined with Justin Wilson, Bryan Morris and Tony Watson for 4 1-3 scoreless relief innings. "Its a tough spot with the bases loaded, but all Im thinking is to keep the ball down and let my fielders make a play and thats exactly what happened," Hughes said. Lynn allowed four runs in six innings and is winless in four starts since winning his first four starts of the season. He gave up nine hits and two walks while striking out five as the Cardinals dropped to 3-5 on their nine-game road trip. Volquez and Jose Tabata hit consecutive run-scoring groundouts in the fourth inning before Harrison and Alvarez followed with RBI singles. "What can I do? I gave up a bunch on infield singles," Lynn said. "Its not like I was giving up double-double-double-double. I was giving up infield singles -- thats just really bad luck, and Ive had those games and Ive had nights when Ive given up double-double-double and given up three runs. "As a pitcher youd much rather give up double-double-double because singles (are upsetting)." NOTES: St. Louis C Yadier Molina, who is 0 for 12 in his last four games, got a day off. ... Pirates LHP Wandy Rodriguez will be activated from the disabled list and start Thursday at Milwaukee. He has been out with right knee inflammation since April 20. ... Cardinals LHP Jaime Garcia will make his next rehab start Monday for Triple-A Memphis on Monday after it was originally announced he would pitch for Double-A Springfield on Sunday. Garcia has been on the DL all season while recovering from shoulder surgery. ... The three-game series ends Sunday night with St. Louis RHP Shelby Miller (4-2, 3.20) facing RHP Charlie Morton (0-4, 3.45). It will mark the first time ESPN has televised a Sunday night game from Pittsburgh since 1996. Custom AS Roma Jerseys . For the Athletics, hes extremely important at the top of the order, especially with Coco Crisp hurting. Jaso drove in three runs Sunday night, helping Scott Kazmir and Oakland beat the Texas Rangers 9-3.(SportsNetwork.com) - Lets face it, the Atlanta Falcons are lucky to be playing meaningful football in December. But the schedule doesnt shape up as all that fortunate down the stretch. The 5-7 Falcons are now atop the dismal NFC South division in advance of their trip north to face the powerful Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Monday Night Football. And win or lose in Titletown, Atlanta will remain in control of its own destiny because of a perfect 4-0 record inside the division, along with a looming Week 16 matchup at the Saints, who fell back to 5-8 after Sundays setback to Carolina. If you look ahead, however, you can see things figure to get far stickier for the Falcons starting tonight. While Atlanta has to battle the Packers, who are 6-0 at home this season, New Orleans will face opponents who currently have a 12-26 mark the rest of the way. Conversely, the Falcons face three teams with playoff aspirations (The Pack, Pittsburgh and New Orleans) before finishing off with the now 4-8-1 Panthers. Both the Saints and Atlanta are attempting to avoid joining the 2010 Seattle Seahawks as being the only NFL teams to win a division with a sub-.500 record. The Falcons have won three of four overall, including a big 29-18 win over the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals in Week 13 action at the Georgia Dome. Matt Bryant connected on all five of his field-goal attempts in that one and Matt Ryan finished with a season-high 361 yards on 30-of-41 passing with scoring throws to Julio Jones and Levine Toilolo. Jones led all receivers thanks to 189 yards on 10 receptions, Harry Douglas added 116 yards on nine grabs, and Steven Jackson contributed 101 yards on 18 carries. Arizona signal caller Drew Stanton was picked off twice by the much-maligned Atlanta defense, once by Josh Wilson and another by Dwight Lowery. The Packers, meanwhile, took another step toward what would be a franchise- record fourth consecutive division title when they outlasted the New England Patriots, 26-21, in a game that could have foreshadowed Super Bowl XLIX. MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers threw for 368 yards and two touchdowns and kept two NFL-record streaks alive as he outdueled Tom Brady and the Pats. Rodgers was 24-of-38 and has now thrown 360 consecutive passes with 31 touchdowns since his last interception at home, which was over two calendar years ago. Eddie Lacy rushed 21 times for 98 yards and caught two passes for another 17, stretching his Green Bay running back record to four consecutive games with at least 100 yards from scrimmage. Davante Adams had six receptions for 121 yards and Randall Cobb made seven catches for 85 as the Packers ran their winning streak to four games since their bye week. Weve been great at home, said Rodgers. The fans have been excellent with the noise and weve got a good advantage with it. Weve just got to keep rolling. Green Bay leads its all-time series with Atlanta by a 14-12 margin, including a 22-21 win at Lambeau last season while Rodgers was out with a broken collarbone. On Monday nights the Falcons have been dismal historically, compiling a 10-26 mark. The Packers are also underwater but much better at 28-31-1. WHAT TO WATCH FOR Rodgers has thrown for 20 touchdowns without an interception at home this season. Overall, the All-Pro leads the NFL with a 118.6 passer rating and has thrown for 32 scores against just three INTs, captaining a team that scoress 31.dddddddddddd7 points per game, the best mark in the league. In his four previous career meetings against the Falcons Rodgers has always crossed the 300-yard barrier throwing the ball and has nine TDs against just one INT. Its a big challenge for us this week with Aaron Rodgers, Falcons coach Mike Smith admitted. No doubt, hes playing the best of any quarterback in the NFL right now. Hes got a number of weapons he can get it to. Hes played extremely well at home. I dont think hes thrown an interception at home this season, and I dont even want to talk about how many points theyve scored. The answer to that is 40.9 points while outscoring foes 245 to 106 at Lambeau. I dont know that theres been a quarterback thats had a stretch like hes had in the history of the NFL, Smith continued. Rodgers finished November with 1,233 yards passing with 13 touchdowns and no interceptions for an NFL-best 128.1 passer rating. And more importantly a 4-0 record. No disrespect to any quarterback in the NFL, but right now hes at a level that is much higher than anybody else, Smith said. When you look at his pure statistics, theyre phenomenal. The key to Green Bay at home has been blitzing people out of the starting blocks. The Packers have outscored their opponents by an amazing 79-0 margin in the first quarter of their last five home contests. That number expands to 151-23 at halftime and 14 of those 23 points were scored by the powerful Patriots last week. Foes have been looking up and finding the score 14-0, or in the case of the Pats 13-0, and that has enabled a flawed Packers defense to excel as teams become more one-dimensional. Despite some talent issues on the defensive side Green Bay has allowed just 17.3 ppg in its current four-game winning streak. When you watch the tape, its even more impressive, Smith said. (Rodgers has) got a great grasp of how to attack defenses. Hes extending plays. If he can extend the play and when the play gets off schedule, he can make the throws. Hes been very accurate. His quarterback rating is off the charts. You would think the only way Atlanta can beat the Packers is in a shootout and Ryan isnt too shabby himself, currently second in the NFL with 3,427 passing yards, slightly ahead of Rodgers 3,325. The veteran also has 21 TD passes versus 10 interceptions and a solid 93.7 passer rating. Jones, meanwhile, is one of the best receivers in the game as evidenced last week when he torched the highly-regarded Patrick Peterson time and time again. The Falcons could also get a boost from the potential return of Jones regular running mate, Roddy White, who sat out last week with an ankle problem. Roddy was close to playing (last week), Smith said. He worked with our athletic performance guys late in the week. We felt that it was in the best interest long term for him to not play in the game this past week. We anticipate, with the extra day, that hell be ready to go this week. OVERALL ANALYSIS Rarely is a division leader favored by double digits over another division leader but thats the story here and its hard to imagine a team with so many issues on defense like the Falcons solving Rodgers at Lambeau. We have some big goals, and were getting into December football now with a chance with everything right in front of us, A-Rod said. Expect the Packers to keep rolling here.
