SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Even with a new coach, the Denver Nuggets still love to push the basketball. Thats exactly what they did best Sunday night against short-handed Sacramento. Ty Lawson scored 27 points and Wilson Chandler had 20 for the Nuggets, who used their fast-paced philosophy to beat the struggling Kings 125-117. Following an emotional home win over Indiana on Saturday and a late-night flight to Sacramento, the Nuggets played the up-tempo game that was encouraged for years by George Karl and has continued under rookie coach Brian Shaw. Denver shot nearly 52 per cent, made 10 3-pointers and bothered the Kings enough at the defensive end to force 16 turnovers — many of them contributing to Denvers 33 fast-break points. It was a season high allowed by the Kings, who have had trouble all season slowing down opponents. The Nuggets are 12-2 this season when scoring at least 110 points. "We come out and run and play with energy, thats our game," Lawson said. "If we dont do that, were not going to win many games." It was the second consecutive victory for the Nuggets, who went ahead late in the third quarter and never trailed again. Denver was coming off a 109-96 victory over the Pacers, who have the best record in the NBA. The Nuggets (22-21) now return home for games against Charlotte, Toronto, the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee. "Its the first time this year we have followed up a good win with another one," Shaw said. "If we take care of business at home we can really build some momentum." The Kings, who have dropped three straight and five of six, played their second consecutive game without leading scorers DeMarcus Cousins (ankle sprain) and Rudy Gay (Achilles strain). The two combine for nearly 43 points per game and are day to day. Chandler scored seven points in the fourth quarter and Kenneth Faried finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Nuggets. Timofey Mozgov added 14 points, while Nate Robinson and Randy Foye had 12 apiece. "Were starting to come around as a team," said Chandler, who made three 3-pointers and added five of Denvers 28 assists. "Were getting used to each other. We have 10 or 11 guys who can play and we dont lose a thing, no matter who is on the court." Isaiah Thomas had 22 points and eight assists for Sacramento, and Marcus Thornton scored 19. Ben McLemore added 18 points, Jason Thompson had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Derrick Williams scored 12. "We never got defensive in the game tonight," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "Both teams shot the ball the exact same field goal percentage (51.9 per cent). We were not going to outscore that team. We put up 117 points and yet everyone is worried about Rudy Gay and DeMarcus being out. I havent been worried about our offence once this year." Denver didnt have a field goal in the final 3:30 of the game, but stayed on top thanks to its foul shooting. The Nuggets made 14 of 19 free throws down the stretch, most of them in the final 3 minutes. A pair of free throws by J.J. Hickson gave Denver a seven-point lead. Robinson made one of two attempts at the line with 1:02 left, putting the Nuggets up 119-113. Lawson hit two free throws and Chandler made four straight, increasing the lead to 10. "We just couldnt get any consecutive stops in the fourth quarter," McLemore said. "We would get a stop here, but not consecutively. What happened was that we turned the ball over too much tonight. Thats what allowed them to score 125 points and 58 points in the paint. It was us not defending and turnovers." Leading by two points, the Nuggets opened the fourth quarter with a surge, taking a 111-102 lead on a 3-pointer by Robinson. But Denver went scoreless for more than 3 minutes before Lawson scored for a 113-107 advantage. Lawson gave the Kings all sorts of trouble in the third quarter, scoring 12 points to help Denver take a 95-94 lead into the fourth. Thornton scored 10 for the Kings. The Nuggets ran off eight unanswered points to open an eight-point lead in the third. But the Kings countered with a 15-2 run, including seven points from Thomas and six from Thornton, to pull ahead 80-75 at the 4:36 mark. Foye had 12 first-half points and Lawson 11 for Denver, which led 65-59 at halftime. McLemore scored 10 off the bench for the Kings, who had 12 turnovers that led to 20 points. NOTES: Thomas made a 3-pointer midway through the third quarter to extend his streak to 37 games, the second-most in franchise history. Mitch Richmond holds the team record with 39 consecutive games with a 3 during the 1996-97 season. ... In a fast-paced opening half, the Kings shot 59.5 per cent and Denver was at 54.5 per cent. ... Ibrahimovic, who also helped set up the other goal for Argentina winger Ezequiel Lavezzi, has scored 22 league goals and is closing in on his career-best total of 30 from last season. At this pace, he is on course to get 50 goals in all competitions. "It was a good game. It wasnt easy to play on this pitch because it wasnt in a good state," said Ibrahimovic, who scored twice in the 4-0 rout of Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday. "I feel good, very good physically. I dont know how far we can go but I hope the team keeps on playing like this, and well see what we can win." PSG is finding its best form again at just the right time and next faces bitter rival Marseille at home next weekend. "Weve scored a lot of goals in one week. It shows our attacking talent and its going to be very hard to catch us," PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi said. "Now we can recover properly before the Marseille game." Toulouse coach Alain Casanova promised to attack and was true to his word, with lively striker Wissam Ben Yedder scoring twice to set up a nervous finish before Ibrahimovic converted his second penalty of the match in the last minute. "We didnt play particularly well, because the players were a bit tired (after Tuesday night)," PSG coach Laurent Blanc said. "We didnt create an enormous amount of chances but we took them, and when you score four goals the coach can only be happy." Meanwhile, Lille fell further behind the top two after a dour 0-0 draw with Lille. Third-place Lille is 10 points behind Monaco and one point ahead of fourth-place Saint-Etienne, while Lyon is five points behind Lille in sixth place. PSG took the lead in the 33rd minute when Serbian defender Uros Spajic brought down Lavezzi, and Ibrahimovic drilled his spot kick down the middle with goalkeeper Zacharie Boucher guessing wrong as he dived to his right.dddddddddddd PSG should have scored again in the 43rd when Ibrahimovic crossed from the left and centre back Thiago Silva failed to hit the target as he lunged in at the far post. A minute later, Toulouse punished PSG for that miss when Ben Yedder volleyed in a cross from midfielder Etienne Didot. But PSG regained the lead in the 56th when Ibrahimovic again crossed from the left, Matuidi let the ball run and Lavezzi finished with a first-time shot. Ibrahimovic seemed to have put the result beyond doubt in the 70th, heading in substitute Yohan Cabayes free kick after the impressive Lavezzi had been fouled, but sloppy play let Toulouse back into the game three minutes later. After PSG midfielder Thiago Motta went to challenge forward Martin Braithwate, the ball bounced into the penalty area and Ben Yedder beat goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu with a calm finish. Not to be outdone, Ibrahimovic went close with another header from Cabayes free kick — which Boucher kept out — and then scored another penalty after Issiaga Sylla had handled his free kick. Ibrahimovic was lucky, however, as he tried to dink it over Boucher. The goalkeeper saved the shot, only for the rebound to fall kindly into the Sweden forwards path. Hardly anything happened at Lille until the hour mark, when Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes thwarted 18-year-old forward Divock Origi and then tipped away Salomon Kalous cross before it reached striker Nolan Roux. The game finally started to open up and, when Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier clipped the ball over onrushing goalie Vincent Enyeama, defender Pape Souare had to make a goal line clearance. Lopes then made an excellent finger-tip save to push Origis strike from 20 yards onto the bar, and Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette shot straight at Enyeama from a good position. Earlier, struggling Rennes moved nine points away from the relegation zone with an impressive 3-0 win at Nantes, with Sweden forward Ola Toivonen, strike partner Paul-Georges Ntep and Norwegian midfielder Anders Konradsen getting the goals. (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Jets will try to continue to take advantage of home ice when they host the struggling San Jose Sharks tonight at the MTS Centre. Fans in the Jets viewing region can watch the game on TSN Jets at 6:30pm ct/7:30pm et and listeners can tune in to TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg. The Jets are coming off Fridays 5-0 victory over the visiting Nashville Predators. Winnipeg scored four times in the opening period and Ondrej Pavelec made sure the early offense stood up for the win, as he turned away 41 shots to post his first shutout of the season. Bryan Little added a pair of goals to fuel Winnipegs offensive onslaught. Olli Jokinen, Eric Tangradi and Devin Setoguchi also tallied for the Jets, who won for just the third time in their last 10 games. "I thought we played a good first period. I thought we were fortunate to score four goals," said Jets head coach Claude Noel. "I thought our goalie was very good. A night like tonight well take the 5-0 game but it wasnt necessarily a clinic, but well take the win." The win improved Winnipegs home record to 5-5-1 this season. The Sharks are sporting identical 5-1-2 marks at both home and on the road. San Jose has won six of the past seven games in this series. The Sharks won their one and only game in Winnipeg since the Jets relocated from Atlanta prior to the 2011-12 season, earning a 2-0 victory at the MTS Centre on Jan. 12, 2012. The sliding Sharks hope a trip away from Northern California can get them back on track, as they begin a five-game swing. The Sharks sprinted out of the gate to a 10-1-1 start to the season, but have since dropped four in a row, going 0-1-3 during the cold spell. The lone regulation setback during the slide came in San Joses last game, a 4-2 loss on Thursday to the Vancouver Canucks. The loss to Vancouver came in the finale of a three-game homestand. Five of the games six goals were scored in the first period and the Canucks held a 3-2 edge after 20 minutes. Mike Brown and Joe Thornton scored for the Sharks, while Antti Niemi gave up all four goals on 13 shots before being pulled early in the second period. Alex Stalock stopped all 21 shots he faced in relief. "I dont think we played very well in the first or second, and we just couldnt catch up in the third," said Thornton. "Were too talented to be losing games like this." San Joses current five-game road trip matches the clubs longest swing of the season and features stops in Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and Chicago. The Sharks wont play their next home game until hosting Tampa Bay on Nov. 21. While the Sharks try to regain their winning touch on Sunday, the Jets will try to keep going in the right direction. Winnipeg had lost three straight and six of seven before recording victories in two of its past three trips to the ice. Over the past 20 years, the average number of top-flight appearances made by a player before they earned their first England cap has steadily decreased. In 1996, footballers, on average, made 75 Premier League appearances before making their England debut. That average figure is now down to 33 games, with Manchester Uniteds Marcus Rashford and Tottenhams Dele Alli prime examples. The average number of top-flight appearances before an England debut has dropped from 75 to 33 since 1996 United striker Rashford only made his professional debut in February but was playing for England by May - after just 11 Premier League appearances. Alli, meanwhile, made the step up after just seven top-flight fixtures with Spurs. Raheem Sterling (13 top-flight appearances) and Ross Barkley (16) have also been quick to pull on the Three Lions jersey, although Theo Walcott became Englands youngest-ever player at 17 years and 74 days in 2006 without making one top-flight appearance. Raheem Sterling only made 13 Premier League appearances before making his senior England debut Since 1996, seven other players have been handed their England debut without playing one minute in Englands top flight: Fraser Forster, Rickie Lambert, Wilfried Zaha, Jack Butland, David Nugent, Owen Hargreaves and Kevin Phillips.dddddddddddd.However, Hargreaves made his name in Germany with Bayern Munich and became the only player in history to represent England without ever having lived in the country. In contrast, Kevin Davies made 382 top-flight appearances before making his England debut against Montenegro in 2010 - more than any other player over the last 20 years.Tim Sherwood racked up 324 appearances before his first international cap in 1999, followed by Leon Osman (259), Trevor Sinclair (218), James Milner (205), Chris Sutton (194) and Lee Bowyer (192). Bale has had a successful debut season in Spain, and Ancelotti appears ready to reward him with a starting role on Saturday. Curtis Davies and Robert Koren secured the victory with goals inside 35 minutes of the fifth-round replay against the second-tier side.SEATTLE -- With one swing, Kyle Seager hopes he ended his personal skid at the plate and the Seattle Mariners slide. "Any time you see the ball hit the ground, its obviously a big confidence booster," Seager said. "It has felt better the last couple of days and today it showed up. Thankfully." Seager hit a three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth, his second of the game, and the Mariners rallied for a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday to stop an eight-game losing streak. With Seattle on the verge of getting swept for the second straight series, Seager hit a two-run homer in the seventh off starter Jarred Cosart. Then he capped the biggest hitting day of his big league career with his drive on the first pitch from closer Josh Fields (0-1) in the ninth. It was the third multihomer game of Seagers career, and the five RBIs were a career high. Seager had not homered since Sept. 3 of last season at Kansas City. "He has a track record and Ive said all along that he is going to hit," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said. "Obviously, when youre in a losing streak and the guys you expect to hit dont hit, its a little frustrating but in that case you have one of two options: you can sit him or you can play him. I chose to play him and he didnt disappoint." Seager had been one of Seattles few consistent hitters the past two seasons, establishing himself as a lock in the Mariners lineup. That made his struggles to start this season so surprising. Seager entered Wednesday hitting just .156 with two RBIs. He had more strikeouts (17) than hits (10) at the start of the day. His final three at-bats against the Astros were more like what Seager had shown in the past. He drew a leadoff walk to open the fifth, then homered on a 3-2 pitch from Cosart in the seventh to cut Houstons lead to 3-2. Seattle already had a rally going in the ninth. Robinson p;Cano dropped a single in front of an outfield playing deep to open the inning, and Corey Harts sharp single put two on with no outs.dddddddddddd. Fields rallied to strike out Justin Smoak, but Seager went to the plate aggressively looking for a first-pitch fastball. He got it. And Seattles had a chance to celebrate for the first time in more than a week. "Nobody was really stressing," Seager said. "Weve been all right. We know what we have here. Obviously nobody wants to lose, but we know what we have here and we havent been panicking." Seattles late rally spoiled what was looking to be a sweep for the Astros. Cosart took a shutout into the seventh after failing to make it out of the first inning in his previous start. The Astros got a two-run double from Jason Castro in the third inning and Chris Carters second homer of the series in the seventh to take a 3-0 lead. Still, Houstons batting average for the season dropped to .199 after managing just six hits. Chris Young struggled with his control early and walked five, three of those coming in the third. But he retired 11 of 12 batters before Carters homer and lasted seven innings to help save Seattles taxed bullpen. Young struck out six and threw 113 pitches. Fernando Rodney (1-1) got the victory, pitching the top of the ninth in relief. "The most demoralizing loss in baseball is a late inning loss, when you have the game won," Houston manager Bo Porter said. "Since Ive been here weve had our share of them." NOTES: Seattle RHP Taijuan Walker (shoulder) and LHP James Paxton (back) will begin recovery throwing programs within the next week. McClendon said Paxton has been cleared to start throwing Friday and Walker next Monday. ... Carter has hit seven career homers at Safeco Field. ... As for Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys? Their season is over after a replay reversal near the end of the game took away a Dez Bryant catch at the goal line. Rodgers completed 11 of 14 passes for 173 yards on two touchdown drives in the third and fourth quarter and Green Bay scored 13 unanswered points for a 26-21 win over the Cowboys in a divisional playoff game on Sunday at Lambeau Field. Green Bay took its first lead since 7-0 when Rodgers zipped a pass through two defenders and hit tight end Richard Rodgers for a 13-yard touchdown with 9:10 remaining. Then, on 4th-and-2, Bryant went up for Romos deep pass down the left sideline and was ruled to have made a 31-yard catch at the Green Bay 1 after snatching the ball out of the air above cornerback Sam Shields. The Packers challenged the call and officials eventually said Bryant, who was cupping the ball against his left forearm as it hit the field and popped up into the air, didnt complete the catch. Clearly they didnt see it the way I saw it, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. It looked to me like he had three feet down and (in) what they describe to us all the time as a move common to the game Dez reached out for the goal line like hes done so many times. Its a signature play for him and he maintained possession throughout in my opinion. The ruling came a week after officials picked up a pass interference flag on a controversial non-call that helped Dallas beat Detroit in the wild-card round. All I know is I had possession, Bryant said. Garret said the game wasnt about officiating. We had 60 minutes with an opportunity to come up here and win a ballgame and we didnt get the job done, he said. That play was big in the game but there were plenty of other plays. The Packers will play in the NFC championship game for the first time since beating Chicago after the 2010 season on the way to their fourth Super Bowl title. They will travel to Seattle to play the reigning Super Bowl-champion Seahawks next Sunday in a meeting of the top two seeds in the conference. Playing on an injured left calf, Rodgers passed for 316 yards and three scores and Eddie Lacy rushed 19 times for 101 yards for the NFC North champs. Romo threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns for the NFC East-champion Cowboys and NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray had 25 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown. It was the first postseason game between the teams at Lambeau Field since the Packers won the 1966 NFL championship game, known as the Ice Bowl because it was played in sub-zero temperatures. Rodgers go-ahead throw was a frozen rope to the tight end Rodgers, who made the catch in the back of the end zone between defensive backs Sterling Moore and J.J. Wilcox. Once we opened things up and he was able to get into a rhythm and move around, he played like Aaron Rodgers, said Packers coach Mike McCarthy. Just an incredible game for Aaron, especially after what hes been through the last two weeks. Bryant, who has three inches on the 5-foot-11 Shields, used every bit of his height advantage to make a sensational leaping grab that appeared -- if only for several minutes -- to have potentially saved the Cowboys season. Bryant was stunned when the call was reversed, putting his hands on the side of his head. It mirrored a call that negated a winning touchdown catch for Detroits Calvin Johnson in the 2010 season opener against Chicago. Both players were ruled to not have maintained possession through the end of the play. We know the feeling, the Lions tweeted after the game, linking to a video of the Johnson play. Everyone knows the Calvin Johnson rule, Rodgers, the Packers quarterback, said. I remember sitting at home wondering how the heck that isnt a catch. But its been a few years now. According to Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3 of the NFL rulebook, If a player goes to the ground in the acct of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone.dddddddddddd. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete. Referee Gene Steratore said it was the judgement of the officials -- both at the game and in New York -- that Bryant maintained possession but continued to fall and never had another act common to the game. Bryant re-secured the football as he slid on his back into the end zone, but Steratore said it didnt matter because it was already an incompletion. There were a couple of angles that show the ball actually hitting the ground and then the receiver losing possession of it, Steratore said. Green Bay picked up two first downs on the ensuing drive to kill the rest of the clock, including a diving 12-yard grab by Randall Cobb on 3rd-and-11 on a pass that was tipped at the line. McCarthy said he thought officials made the right call on the Bryant play. I thought it was an incredible -- I dont want to say catch -- but an incredible play by Dez Bryant on Sam Shields, the Packers coach said. Rodgers also completed touchdown passes to Andrew Quarless for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and to Davante Adams, who slipped past Moore and Wilcox for a 46-yard catch-and-run near the end of the third quarter to get Green Bay within 21-20. The Packers are 8-1 in their last nine games and finished 9-0 at home this season. The third-seeded Cowboys, who made the playoffs for the first time since 2009, lost for the first time in nine road games this season. They were trying to make the NFC title game for the first time since beating the Packers 38-27 in January 1996 on the way to winning the last of their five Super Bowl titles. Bryant, the NFLs leader in touchdown receptions during the regular season, was quiet for much of the game and ended with three receptions for 38 yards. Of the controversial reversal, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, In my view, we made the play. Weve had a lot of re-looks at things around the league, said Jones. Sometimes they go for you, and sometimes they dont. Romo had touchdown throws to fullback Tyler Clutts and Terrance Williams in the first half, helping Dallas take a 14-10 lead into intermission. Clutts scored his first career touchdown after a pass interference penalty took the Cowboys to the 1-yard line, and Williams scored for the third time in the playoffs on a 38-yard reception that came after Rodgers fumbled on a hit by defensive end Jeremy Mincey. Packers linebacker Julius Peppers might have saved a Dallas touchdown when he reached out to strip Murray near midfield early in the third quarter, giving Green Bay the ball near midfield. But the Packers settled for Mason Crosbys 30-yard field goal after lineman T.J. Lang was penalized for unnecessary roughness for shoving Nick Hayden at the end of a play, which sparked a scuffle between the teams. Romo came up limping after a hit by Packers safety Micah Hyde in the third quarter and appeared to be favoring his left knee. Dallas scored on the drive, with Murrays 26-yard run setting up his 1-yard touchdown to make it 21-13. Game Notes Green Bay snapped a four-game losing streak to Dallas in the postseason ... The Cowboys appeared in their 60th postseason game, extending their NFL record. They have a league-record 34 wins ... The Packers improved to 31-19 in the postseason ... Clutts has just 10 career receptions in 56 career regular season games ... Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain left the game in the first half and didnt return because of concussion-like symptoms ... NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has punished CSKA Moscow, Cypriot club Apollon Limassol and Serbia Under-21s for racist behaviour by their fans with full or partial stadium closures. CSKA received the heavier punishment of playing its next European home game behind closed doors, after its supporters displayed racist and far-right symbols in the Czech Republic during a 2-1 loss to Viktoria Plzen on Dec. 10 in the Champions League. The club was also fined 50,000 euros ($68,000) after being warned previously for fan abuse during an October home game against Manchester City. Apollon Limassol received a partial home stadium closure at its next UEFA game after its fans were caught making monkey chants at Legia Warsaw player Dossa Junior during a 2-0 home loss in the Europa League on Dec. 12. The Football Association of Serbia was ordered to partially close its stadium at the next Serbia Under-21 home game after monkey sounds were heard during a 2-2 draw with Belgium in 2015 European U21 Championship qualifying on Nov. 15. Because Serbia had already had to play two home U21 games behind closed doors for racial abuse during a home game against England U21s in October 2012, UEFA ordered the Serbia FA at the next U21 home game to display a large banner reading "No to Racism" and make the captain stand in the middle of the ground and announce over the PA the opposition to racism by the Serbia FA, the U21 team and their fans. "I can imagine his world is falling apart at the moment," Van Gaal said, adding that Strootmans loss "is also a blood-letting for the Netherlands team."t; The left-footed midfielder has captained the national side in the past and is widely considered a future full-time leader for his country.dddddddddddd A strong tackler, he is also comfortable bringing the ball forward in attack. CALGARY -- After seven years of learning the ropes in Phoenix, Brad Treliving says hes ready to return home and take the reins of an NHL team in a hockey-mad market. The Flames announced Monday that Treliving, a former assistant general manager with the Coyotes, will take over the vacant GM spot in Calgary. "Im ready for this,"Treliving said. "I know the challenges here we have ahead of us as a team ... I know the expectations of this market. I know the expectations of this fan base. And I want you to know Im prepared for this and Im ready for this challenge." Team president of hockey operations Brian Burke officially announced the hiring at an afternoon news conference. "Make no mistake about it folks, Brad is the general manager of this team, effective right now," Burke said, adding that Treliving was the only candidate the Flames interviewed. "Its important people understand that. It speaks volumes for what we think of Brad as a general manager," Burke said. Treliving, a native of Penticton, B.C., referred to himself a "proud Western Canadian" and said he welcomed the move. "In a lot of ways I look at this as a homecoming," the 44-year-old said. "Coming in yesterday, seeing the Rocky Mountains ... I appreciate Brian and (Flames president and CEO Ken Kings) hospitality. You got rid of the snow for a guy whos had his blood thinning in the desert the past few years." Treliving also had kind words for the Coyotes organization, where he worked closely with GM Don Maloney and was in charge of their AHL affiliate in Portland. Treliving worked for the Coyotes while they were on shaky ground and administered by the NHL before being bought by a Canadian-led group last year. "I know for a lot of people up here and outside of the Phoenix market over the past few years, theres been a lot of stories written (but) it was a great experience there because of the people there." Treliving will take over general manager duties from Burke, who served as interim GM after firing Jay Feaster in December. "He is the single most significant factor for me being here today," Treliving said of Burke. Treliving is also assistant GM for Team Canada at the IIHF world championship. He previously served as president of the Central Hockey League and president and director of hockey operations for the Western Professional Hockey League, which he founded. The Flames missed the playoffs for the fifth straight season after finishing with a 35-40-7 record for 77 points. Calgary was 13th in the Western Conference standings. As the Coyotes vice-president of hockey operations, Treliving worked closely with Maloney on personnel matters and helping build a team despite the financial limitations of being run by the NHL for four seasons. "Brad has learned at the knee of a general manager for whom I have great respect, Don Maloney. Hes been directly and actively involved in every facet of the general managers job," Burke said "He has a keen mind and a reputation as an extremely hard worker. Its my job to provide Brad with whatever guidance and leadership I can." The team made the playoffs in each of their four seasons without an owner before failing to reach the post-season the past two seasons. Trelivings duties also included managing the professional and amateur scouting staffs and making player personnel assignments to the teams minor-league affiliates. Treliving, who played in the International Hockey League, AHL and ECHL, is the son of Boston Pizza co-owner Jim Treliving. Maillot Foot Femme Pas Cher France . LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisvilles final home game for nearly a month was especially memorable because of its precision in a lopsided victory against Missouri State. Certainly, the sixth-ranked Cardinals have room to improve in many areas as they prepare for four road contests over 23 days including a Dec. 28 showdown against in-state rival No. 19 Kentucky in Lexington. For now, the defending national champions look forward to building on its best overall performance of the season. Montrezl Harrell had 17 points and eight rebounds, and Louisville manhandled the Bears 90-60 on Tuesday night. The Cardinals (10-1) took control early and never let up against the Bears (8-2). They combined dominant rebounding and offensive accuracy during a 16-0 first-half run for a 19-4 lead in the first meeting between the schools since 2006. Harrell was among four Cardinals with at least eight rebounds each, a combination that alone outdid MSU in Louisvilles 51-30 domination of the boards including 20-10 offensively. They also outscored the Bears 46-28 inside and held them to 38 per cent shooting to close a 5-0 home stand. Asked if this was Louisvilles best effort to date, Harrell answered, "Id say so. It was a great win. The first half we really got into it, (and it) got us going." Senior guard Russ Smith added 11 points and eight assists, while freshman Terry Rozier had 11 points and eight rebounds. Forwards Stephan Van Treese and Mangok Mathiang combined for 17 rebounds for Louisville, which shot 34 of 66 from the field (52 per cent). Louisville coach Rick Pitino agreed that it was the best he has seen his team play, adding, "I dont know what was better, the defence, the offence or the offensive rebounding. It was just awesome in the first half." Jarmar Gulleys 14 points led the Bears, whose two-game winning streak was thoroughly halted by a Cardinals squad that controlled every facet of the game. MSU led Louisville 4-3 before the Cardinals seized the pace with the big run. The Bears never got closer than 17 after that, spoiling Paul Lusks 100th career game as a coach. "They just dominated us on the glass," Lusk said. "Theyve got a lot of talent but they also play so darn hard.dddddddddddd We just simply couldnt keep them off the glass. That was the telltale of the game." Missouri State brought some impressive credentials into its second meeting against Louisville and first since losing to the Cardinals in the 2006 NIT. The Bears were runners-up to Virginia in the Corpus Christi Challenge, a four-game run that included a win over previously unbeaten Texas A&M. They also boasted an impressive scoring combination in Gulley and Marcus Marshall, who had combined for nearly 27 points per game coming in and were developing into a strong scoring duo in just four games together. Against the Cardinals, though, they combined for only 22 points as Marshall finished with eight. MSUs bench was outscored 32-26, 10 points below their average. Louisville welcomed back point guard Chris Jones from a one-game absence because of a sprained right wrist. Rozier started but the 5-foot-10 junior came in five minutes later with the wrist bandaged and finished with nine points in 19 minutes. The Cardinals were in the midst of their key run when Jones entered. The sequence was highlighted by Chane Behanans thunderous one-handed dunk off of Van Treeses long lead pass and Roziers steal of the inbounds pass and layup seconds later. Louisville continued to overwhelm MSU, which was outrebounded 20-5 through 13 minutes and 27-10 overall in the first half. That statistic offered the best indicator of Louisvilles defensive effort, which disrupted the Bears dribbling, passing and shot selection. The Cardinals nearly matched their per-game blocks average (4.6) by the break alone, finishing with seven and answering everything MSU attempted. "They switched defences a lot," said MSU guard/forward Keith Pickens, who had four points. "It was sometimes hard to read. I think it came down to rebounding early. They killed us on the offensive glass." Louisvilles offence was just as effective, as the Cardinals dissected MSUs zone and muscled their way for baskets. Louisville also had 14 assists and recorded seven blocks. "If we play defence like that, we can beat any team in the country," Rozier said.
