Patricia Alicea claimed a $500,000 top prize from the Big Cash Bonus Crossword game, according to Kailey Bender, a spokesperson for the lottery.
Alicea claimed the winnings on Aug. 25. The ticket was purchased at Howard Central BP, 2002 Velp Ave., in Howard.
Howard Central received a 2 percent incentive — amounting to $10,000 — for selling the winning ticket, Bender said.
The odds of winning the top prize of $500,000 in the Big Cash Bonus game are 1 in 106,667.Big Cash Bonus Crossword is a $30 ticket. As of Oct. 19, one top prize remains unclaimed from the game, Bender said.
The game involves scratching-off 20 letters in box and, in an accompanying puzzle, scratching-off matching letters. If those letters reveal complete words in the puzzle, a multiplier reveals the level of winnings.
